Why is my bill significantly more or less than last time?
Last Updated -
If your bill is significantly more or less than your previous one, this may be down to the fact that your previous bills were estimates and your current one is an actual reading, which is adjusting the previous inaccurate readings.
The reason that the estimate may differ from the actual reading, is due to a change in usage behaviour from the previous quarter. This leads to the estimate differing from the actual usage. This will then result in an adjustment in the third month to ensure you are paying for the actual energy used.
Possible reasons for a change in usage behavior:
- Change in season, weather or temperature
- Time spent away from property / on holiday (either in current or previous quarter)
- New appliances (which can be more or less energy efficient)
- More or fewer occupants in the household
